ThatPet
ThatPet: a desktop pet that reacts to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode
A small character lives on your desktop and shows what your AI coding agent is doing: thinking, working, waiting for approval or done. Free with Opus 5.5.

Company for a running agent
When an agent runs for a long time, the question I keep asking is small: is it still working, or is it waiting for me? ThatPet answers it with a character instead of a dashboard.
A small character lives on the desktop, walks along the Dock and reacts to the agent in real time. She thinks while the agent thinks, types while it works, waves when it needs approval and celebrates when a turn is done.
What she does
A speech bubble over her head says what the agent is doing, like "Editing code…", "Running a command…" or "Searching…". Clicking her brings the agent’s window to the front. An approval left waiting for 30 seconds gets a more urgent wave and an optional sound.
- Thinking, working, needs you, thank you, done and oops reactions, plus a rare surprise.
- Speech bubble, click to focus, optional sounds and a today counter in the menu bar.
- Party mode puts every character you own on screen at once.
Connecting Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode
The welcome window connects each agent with one click. ThatPet adds one small hook to the agent’s own settings file, leaves your other settings and hooks alone and backs the file up first. You can disconnect any time from the menu.
The hooks run on your computer and only say what kind of thing the agent is doing. Prompts, code and file names never leave it. Anonymous usage reports help improve the app and can be turned off in Settings.
The characters
The app, every feature and Opus 5.5 are free. Sonnet 5.5, Haiku 5.5, Astra 6, DeepSeek V4.1, Sol 6.1, Gemini 4 Argon, Gemini 3.8 Flash and Grok 4.7 are one-time unlocks of $4.99 each, or $29.99 for all eight. One key works on up to 3 computers.
They are the same cast as my stickers and wallpapers, animated.
Install
On a Mac with macOS 13 or later, paste this into Terminal. It checks the download, installs ThatPet and opens it. Run it again to update. Windows and Linux versions are in beta, with their own one-line installers on thatpet.app.
curl -fsSL https://thatlev.com/thatpet.sh | shLight on purpose
ThatPet is a native app. On a Mac it sits close to 0% CPU at rest and around 1% while she walks.
