Why AI models get characters

Most of us now spend part of the day talking to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. They have names, version numbers and moods people argue about. Drawing them as characters felt like the obvious next step. In Japan, turning things into people is called gijinka, and people have been doing it to AI models for a while.

The main characters wear their model’s name and version on their shirts, so you can tell who is who at sticker size. You can buy them as stickers, wallpapers and profile pictures, and Opus 5.5 also lives on the Mac desktop in ThatPet.
