ThatPet
A desktop pet for Mac that reacts to AI coding agents: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Hermes Agent and Antigravity. She thinks while the agent thinks, types while it works, waves when it needs approval and celebrates when a turn is done.
- Availability
- Live. Free with the Opus 5.5 character and every feature. Sonnet 5.5, Haiku 5.5, Astra 6, DeepSeek V4.1, Sol 6.1, Gemini 4 Argon, Gemini 3.8 Flash and Grok 4.7 are one-time unlocks of $4.99 each or $29.99 for all eight; one key works on up to 3 computers. Windows and Linux versions are in beta.
- Built for
- People who run AI coding agents on a Mac and want to see at a glance what the agent is doing, or just want some company while it works.
- Platform
- macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon or Intel; Windows 10 or 11 and Linux in beta
What ThatPet does
A small character lives on the desktop, walks along the Dock and reacts to the agent in real time. Each agent gets one small hook that tells her when a prompt arrives, when a tool runs, when a permission request is waiting, when a tool fails and when the turn ends.
A speech bubble over her head says what the agent is doing ("Editing code…", "Running a command…", "Searching…"). Clicking her brings the agent’s window to the front, and an approval left waiting for 30 seconds gets a more urgent wave and an optional sound.
- Thinking, working, needs you, thank you, done and oops reactions, plus a rare surprise.
- Speech bubble, click to focus, optional sounds and a today counter in the menu bar.
- Party mode puts every character you own on screen at once.
Connecting agents
The welcome window connects each agent with one click. ThatPet adds one hook to the agent’s own settings file, leaves every other setting and hook in place, backs the file up first and can disconnect again from the menu.
Private and light
The hooks run on the computer and pass only the kind of event, never prompts, code or file names. ThatPet sends pet.thatlev.com anonymous usage reports (a random installation ID, the app and system versions, milestones such as connecting an agent, and how long agents worked), which can be turned off in Settings, plus a licence check when a character is unlocked.
It is a native app: close to 0% CPU at rest and around 1% while she walks.
Current limits
- She shows what kind of thing the agent is doing, not the content of the conversation.
- Agents that are not connected, or run in a container or on another machine, cannot reach her.
